CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Southwestern University is ranked 12th in the latest Golfworld WGCA coaches poll - the first rankings of the 2013 spring season. The Pirates held the same position at the end of the fall season.
Southwestern opened its spring season with a shortened contest at the UMHB Spring Invitational, finishing in fifth place.
Trinity University slipped from a tie for 20th to 21st place alone. The Tigers opened up their spring season with a second-place finish at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, only behind the 13th-ranked host school and future SCAC member Schreiner University.
Methodist University received all 15 first-place votes to keep its firm grasp on the No. 1 ranking. The Lady Monarchs finished in a tie for second at the BSC Ann Rhodes Invitational to start the spring, losing only to Division I Indiana State. In the fall they claimed three team titles.
