Throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference will celebrate its 30th anniversary. A special logo commemorating the occasion will be used (pictured left).
In its first 30 years, the SCAC saw its membership grow from eight schools in 1991 to a high of 12 institutions (2007 to 2012) to the current roster of nine, and sports sponsorship has increased from 15 to 19.
As part of the celebration, the SCAC office will release 30th anniversary teams for 17 of its current 19 conference-sponsored sports plus two formerly sponsored sports - field hockey and football. The SCAC's 30th Anniversary teams will be selected through balloting by present coaches in each sport as well as administrators. Athletes who participated in conference competition between the fall of 2005 through the spring of 2020 and had been named to at least two All-SCAC teams and/or were a selected as a Player-of-the-Year in their respective sport were eligible for selection.
The conference selected 15th anniversary teams during the 2005-06 academic year where 297 former student-athletes were recognized as an all-anniversary recipient for his or her respective sport.
