Baseball Recap (Week 10) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The University of Dallas (16-17, 10-6 SCAC), thanks to its two wins against Southwestern University, sits just one game back of Trinity University (26-7, 11-5 SCAC) for second place in the league standings as the conference regular season schedule winds down.

AROUND THE SCAC

Austin College dropped a pair of games to No. 8-ranked Trinity University over the weekend, falling 16-6 in game one on Saturday before falling in a 2-0 pitchers' duel on Sunday. The 'Roos are now 10-24 overall and 7-10 in SCAC play with the two losses. In the 16-6 loss the teams took a scoreless game into the third before Trinity exploded for 11 runs over the next two innings. Austin College answered with five runs in the fifth to cut it to an 11-5 game, but the Tigers used a four run seventh to put the game away. Mason Leech had a three run double and Tyler Appelquist and Landon Hendrix each had a pair of hits to lead the 'Roos offensively while Shane Williams took the loss on the mound. On Sunday, Trinity scored once in the first and once in the ninth and that would turn out to be all of the offense in the game. Blaine Tew allowed just one run over 5.0 innings while scattering three hits in the loss, while six 'Roos had one hit each. The 'Roos will take on the University of Ozarks in McAlester, Oklahoma on Tuesday.
