Southwestern leads; Trinity's Zumbro Hits Hole-in-One at the 2013 SCAC Women's Golf Championship

SHREVEPORT, La. - Led by senior Kelsey Coburn, Southwestern University holds a 12-shot lead after the first day of competition at the 2013 SCAC Championship at Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, La. Results

Coburn shot a tournament-best 81 (+9) and teammate Lauren Boone followed with an 82 (+10) as the 15th-ranked Pirates established themselves as the team to beat at the 2013 championships.

The individual highlight of the afternoon was turned in by Trinity University junior Molly Zumbro (pictured above holding the historic ball), who recorded a hole-in-one at the fourth hole - a 116-yard par 3. It is believed to be the first hole-in-one ever recorded at the SCAC Golf Championships - for either a man or woman. Southwestern sports a first-round team score of 330, followed by second-place and 16th-ranked Trinity University with a 342. Centenary College is three shots back of Trinity at 345.
