ALEXANDER BOZHILOV OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a first-year from Sofia, Bulgaria, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. It marks the third time this season Bozhilov has taken the weekly honor. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 7)
Despite the hot conditions, Bozhilov was still able to pull of another win at the University of the Ozarks Cross Country Invitational. With many many rolling hills, the freshman was able to put in a time of 25:43.1 distancing himself by almost 30 seconds from the second place finisher.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Johnathon Castro of St. Thomas finished sixth place overall and was the in top three of Division III competitors at the OLLU West Side Classic. Castro navigated the 8k course in a time of 25:58.6. First-year Miguel Hernandez of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs at the OLLU West Side Classic, finishing in eighth place with a new personal best of 26:06.5, just five seconds away from the school record. First-year Nico Lopez of Trinity placed 16th overall at the OLLU West Side Classic over the weekend, leading the Tiger men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the meet. Lopez raced against several non-Division III competition on Saturday, pushing Trinity to be the second-highest team finisher in D-III. He finished with a time of 26:45.3 in his first collegiate 8k. First-year Dylan Mills of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the OLLU West Side Classic, posting an 8k time of 29:03. First-year Jase McAbee of University of the Ozarks finished 21st with a time of 29:20 at the University of the Ozarks Cross Country Invitational. The performance marked the first time he broke the 30 minute barrier this year.
