KIMBERLY BURCH OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a first-year golfer from Dublin, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, October 13 through Tuesday, October 19. SCAC Golf Release (Week 4)
Burch finished in third place in the 46-player field and tops among all SCAC players at the UD WinStar Crusader Invitational in Thackerville, Okla. Burch fired rounds of 76 and 77 to post a two-day score of 153 (+9) and help lead her team to a third-place finish at the nine-team event. The third-place finish represents the third consecutive tournament Burch as posted a top three finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Kiona Hsiu of Trinity moved into a tie for sixth individually after shooting a two-over score of 74 in Tuesday's final round at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invite. Hsiu had the team's lowest score each of the past two days to move up into the top spot on the team and she was just four strokes from the first-place individual finisher. Junior Linsey Garza of Southwestern led the Pirates with a three-day score of +11, finishing tied for 18th. She started with a 77 in the first round and dropped to a 75 in each of the next two to finish at 227. First-year Emma Luna of St. Thomas finished fourth overall, shooting 11 over par (155), at the UD WinStar Crusader Invitational. First-year Braydee Frederick of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with a 12-over 84 in the final round Tuesday, and finished the UD WinStar Crusader Invitational at 26-over par and tied for 10th place, her first-ever collegiate top 10 finish. First-year Kiley Smith of Centenary was the Ladies' top finisher as she shot a final-round 18-over par 90 to finish in 17th place at the UD WinStar Crusader Invitaitonal. Smith was tied for 13th following Monday's 15-over 87 opening round. First-year Sara Salido of Schreiner finished in a tie with teammate Shelby Vetere for 24th place with a two-day total of 187 at the UD WinStar Crusader Invitational.
