AUSTIN BIRKHOFF, UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a freshman outfielder from Plano, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Monday, February 27 through Sunday, March 5. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 4
Birkhoff had a dominant showing at the plate last weekend, leading the Crusaders in their three-game sweep over Mississippi University for Women. He batted a steady .600, going 6-for-10 with six RBI, two runs scored, and two doubles. Birkhoff also had four stolen bases and leads his team with a.389 average.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore infielder Niko Garcia of Texas Lutheran jump started the Bulldogs comeback against UMHB with his first career home run - a grand slam - to tie the game 5-5 ahead of the Bulldogs eventual comeback victory. Sophomore infielder Michael Lustina of Trinity went 4-for-11 at the plate in the Tigers three games against Concordia Wisconsin, batting .364 with one RBI, one triple, and two runs scored.
