ALEXANDER BOZHILOV OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a first-year from Sofia, Bulgaria, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 5)
Bozhilov placed 11th overall with a time of 20:11.7 at the Nicholls State Cross Country Invitational - a four-mile race consisting of a stacked field of NCAA Division 1 teams including ninth-ranked University of Alabama, Tulane, and Nicholls State. Bozhilov's time marks the third different program record he has broken this season, with the four mile mark he snapped on Saturday originally set in 1979.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Daniel Sanderson of University of the Ozarks finished eighth out of 214 runners at Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival with a season-best time of 26:55.5. He was the top SCAC athlete in the men's CC Prairie, held annually in Fayetteville, Arkansas and hosted by the University of Arkansas. First-year runner Cade Ehlers of Concordia (Texas) was one of nine Tornados who set season-bests at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas. Ehlers (29:49.3) improved on his time by nearly a minute and a half for a new PR at the meet. Junior Marc Mendoza of St. Thomas competed in Chile Pepper XC Festival and placed 12th out of 214 runners with a time of 27:13.
