CHASE REYNOLDS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior midfielder from Southlake, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, October 3rd. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 5)
Reynolds lifted the Crusaders an SCAC opening victory last weekend, netting a hat-trick in Dallas’ 3-2 win at home against Austin College. Reynolds opened the scoring in the match with an unassisted marker in the 36th minute. The senior once again gave Dallas a one-goal lead in the 54th minute after Austin College had tied the game at 1-1 in the early stages of the second frame. Late in the second half, moments from the match heading to OT, Reynolds struck for a third time to give Dallas a 3-2 SCAC victory and secure three early points in the league standings. It marked fourth multigoal game of Reynolds career and his first collegiate hat-trick.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman forward Gabe Kellman of Colorado College factored in all three goals as CC kicked off its SCAC schedule with a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran. Kellman scored CC’s first goal in the 17th minute when he got on the end of a cross from Atticus Lynch. He set up sophomore midfielder Ronan McCann’s game winner 3:14 into the second half, and a little more than four minutes later he assisted on Lynch’s insurance goal off a cross from the right side of the box. Kellman leads the Tigers with 14 points and is second with four goals and six assists. Junior forward Charlie Din of Schreiner scored a goal and registered an assist for three total points in the Mountaineers 3-0 win over Centenary last Sunday. Freshman defender Hunter Cain of Trintiy scored the golden goal in Friday's 1-0 win over Centenary to help the Tigers stay undefeated. The rookie collected his second winning-goal of his young career. He then dished two assists in Trinity’s 3-2 double overtime win over St. Thomas on Sunday.
