ADRIAN MONTENEGRO, UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior left-handed pitcher from Los Angeles, California, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Tuesday, February 13 through Sunday, February 19. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Montenegro tossed another gem last week tossing a complete game shutout to lead the Crusaders to a 5-0 win over Howard Payne. Montenegro scattered just three hits over seven innings of work, while striking out seven. Through his first two outings this year, Montenegro has posted an impressive 0.61 ERA, with a 0.55 WHIP and posted 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Landon Murray of St. Thomas was stout on the mound for the Celts this past weekend getting a win and allowing just six hits and zero runs against McMurry. The senior right hander through two starts has a 0.00 ERA. Senior pitcher Stephen Rutherford of Southwestern earned a win on the mound in the Pirates 11-3 win over non-conference foe Sul Ross St. Rutherford started the game and went seven innings, striking out a remarkable 10 batters and scattering just five hits and allowing one run to post 1.29 ERA.
