Dr. Kristi Kirk Announced as Concordia (Texas) President

AUSTIN, Texas -- In an announcement made on Monday, Dr. Kristi Kirk has been selected as the 10th President and CEO of Concordia University Texas. Dr. Kirk will begin her new role on November 1, 2024.

She will be the first female president in the 98-year history of the institution.

Dr. Kirk’s leadership, with over 30 years of experience in higher education, has already made a significant impact at Concordia Texas through initiatives such as tuition reduction and securing important funding to support students from diverse backgrounds. As a proud alumna of Concordia Texas, Dr. Kirk's deep connection to the University has shaped both her personal and professional journey. Her own transformative experience as a student instilled in her a lifelong commitment to Christ-centered education and community engagement. This background uniquely positions her to lead Concordia Texas with a deep understanding of the values that define the University.

She began her journey at the University in 1993 and has since held roles of increasing responsibility, including Provost and Executive Vice President. In that role, she led initiatives like The Right Call, which simplified tuition pricing to increase access for students, and secured a $2.71 million grant to support students experienceing financial hardship and Hispanic students, particularly Hispanice female students.

"Her long-standing commitment to Concordia Texas and her leadership in advancing Christian education make her the right choice to guide our University into its next chapter," said Rev. Stephen Sohns, chair of the Concordia University Texas Board of Regents. "We are excited for this new chapter under Dr. Kirk's leadership and look forward to the opportunities it will bring for Concordia Texas and the region we serve."
