SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity University completed a sweep of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Singles and Doubles Championships on Sunday, winning both titles in a pair of all-Trinity finals.
Ruth Hill defeated teammate Trinity Levy 6-4, 6-3 in the finals of the singles tournament on Sunday morning, then Hill and doubles partner Olivia Kim held off Levy and Lucy Nabedrick with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (9-7) win in the doubles championship.
Hill and Levy met in the finals for the second straight year, while Levy has made it to the finals three consecutive seasons. Hill is Trinity's first back-to-back Regional Champion in singles in at least 15 years, while Hill and Kim are the first repeat doubles champs since Mary Kaffen and Zoe Kaffen won in both 2018 and 2019.
Today's victories also ensure that Hill and Kim will both be All-Americans once again, as winning a fall regional championship is one of the criteria by which a player can achieve All-America status.
