SUWANEE, Ga. -- Colorado College senior Isabel Olson, who won the Augustana Invitational with a new school record last Saturday and led CC to the team title, has been named the Division III National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association).
Olson, the first female from Colorado College to earn the honor during the cross country season, won the race in a time of 21.07.1, nearly 10 seconds faster than the runner up. She surpassed the previous school record of 21:09, set by Leah Wessler at the 2016 Division III National Championship Meet.
"Isabel is having an outstanding senior season," head coach Alex Nichols said. "Her race at Augustana may have seemed like a surprise win, but at this point, surpassing expectations is the norm for her. Isabel's leadership is helping to raise the level of the entire team and is sure to make a big difference during championship season."
The Tigers dominated the meet and finished with 56 points, followed by 14th-ranked Washington University in second place with 106 points and No. 3 University of Chicago in third with 138. Three other Top 25 teams were in the field.
