SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Rhodes College women
successfully defended their crown, earning the 2009 SCAC Women's
Track and Field team title Saturday on the campus of The University
of the South. Official

The Lynx finished with 217 points, 22 more than
second-place DePauw University who had 195
points. Trinity University finished third with 111
points, followed by Centre College with 96, Hendrix
College with 60, Colorado College with 41, Southwestern
University with 26,
Oglethorpe University with 23 and Sewanee-The
University of the South with 10.
Rhodes' Kristen Forbes was named the SCAC Women's Track and
Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. The
junior from Nashville, Tenn., finished first in the 200 meters and
the 400 meters and took second in the 100 meters. She was also
part of both the Lynx first-place 4 x 400 relay team as well as the
second-place 4 x 100 relay team. Forbes set
a new SCAC championship meet record in 200 meters with a
finishing time of 25.04.
Rhodes' Kim Tryon set a new women's pole vault record by clearing
11 feet, 4 and one-half inches.
For the two day event, 14 SCAC men's and women's meet records fell.
