DePauw earns fifth straight NCAA Women's Tennis bid; four qualify as Individuals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The DePauw University Tigers, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions, earned its fifth straight bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The SCAC also qualified four student-athletes in the individual championships as well.

The 12th-ranked Tigers will host regional play May 8-10 in Greencastle, Ind. DePauw received an opening-round bye and will open up NCAA play May 9 when the Tigers face the winner of the Manchester vs. Washington-St. Louis match at 10 a.m. (EST).

DePauw is making its eighth overall appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Tigers have tallied an all-time record of 7-7 in NCAA play. Last season DePauw advanced to the regional finals where the Tigers fell to the Denison Big Red, 5-1.

Sophomore Janelle Arita, from DePauw, was an individual qualifer. Also qualifiying as an individual was Trinity sophomore Katy Poettcker. DePauw's doubles team of Greer Mackie and Kayla Smith also qualified and Poettcker and Trinity teammate Erin Jamison were named doubles alternates.
