SUWANEE, Ga. - It is not every day that the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has a former student-athlete compete in the biggest single-day sporting event in the world, but that will be the case on Sunday, February 1, as Trinity University’s Jerheme Urban suits up with the Arizona Cardinals for Super Bowl XLIII.
Urban, a former Division III Football All-American, was a part
of the 2002 Trinity team that went to the Stagg Bowl – the
Division III National Championship game – and now is headed
to Tampa, Fla., with his Arizona teammates in the team’s
improbable run to the Super Bowl.
Urban had 34 catches for 448 yards and four touchdowns during the
regular season, and has added five more receptions for 30 yards
during the Cardinals’ three playoff contests.
We had a chance to catch up with Jerheme before he left for Super
Bowl XLIII and asked him about his time at Trinity, as both a
standout football and track and field student-athlete, as well as
his time in the National Football League.
