ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After playing 110 minutes of
scoreless soccer in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Championship
Tournament, Rhodes lost to the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan
University in a penalty kick shootout, 4-3, on the campus of
Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday.
The game is officially recorded as a tie but the Titans
advance to the 2nd Round where they will face Wash U on
Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 6:00pm.
Rhodes earned their 12th shutout of the season behind the stellar play of goalkeeper Becca Clarin who also managed a save during the pk shootout. The Titans outshot the Lynx during the 110 minutes of play 21-10 with 9 of those shots on goal compared to the Lynx' 6.
Rhodes ends the 2008 season as SCAC Champions with a 14-4-2 overall record and the 1st appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the program's history.
