STERLING, Va. - The SCAC had three players
named to the D3football.com
National Team of the Week for games played Saturday, September
13 and 14. Senior defensive lineman Michael McNelis of DePauw,
senior linebacker Mason Mosby of Rhodes and junior punter William
Lawrimore of Millsaps each earned recognition for their
performances.
DePauw's McNelis, a 6-0, 230-pound senior linebacker from
Indianapolis, Ind., totaled five tackles along with a quarterback
hurry and led the Tigers with 2.5 sacks for 22 yards in losses
in the teams' 52-17 victory over Anderson. DePauw's defensive
line finished with six sacks on the afternoon as the Tigers limited
the Ravens to just 18 yards in 32 attempts.
Millsaps' Lawrimore, a 5-8, 169-pound junior punter from Tampa,
Fla., had hands down his best outing in a Majors uniform in a 34-14
win over Belhaven, averaging 48.3 yards-per-punt in seven punts,
including two that fell inside the 20-yard line and one touchback.
Midway through the third quarter, Lawrimore had a game-changing
boot that traveled a school-record 77 yards down to the Blazers'
10-yard line.
Rhodes' Mosby, a 6-0, 210-pound senior linebacker from Hernando, Miss., led a Lynx defense that forced five turnovers and limited Louisiana College to 153 yards of total offense in Sunday's 14-3 loss to the Wildcats. Mosby posted 14 tackles, forced a fumble, intercepted a pass and had a pass breakup in a game that was postposed a day due to the effects of Hurricane Ike on the state of Louisiana.
