Trinity's Loeffler; Campbell Continue String of All-America Honors at NCAA Track & Field Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio - Trinity University picked up new more All-America honors on Friday as senior Emily Loeffler (pictured right) placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and freshman Justin Campbell placed third in the discus at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Loeffler is now a four-time All-American in outdoor and indoor track, and cross country. Loeffler placed fifth in this year's NCAA Indoor 5,000 meters, and was third in the 2008 Outdoor steeplechase. She was 17th in last fall's NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Campbell (pictured right) also became an All-American with a third-place finish in the men's discus on Friday. Campbell, also an offensive lineman on the Tigers football team, registered a throw of 164 feet, 7 inches (50.18 meters).

Senior Todd Wildman qualified for Saturday's 110-meter hurdles, with a trials time of 14.50 seconds. Wildman had the second-best time in the trials, right behind Edgar Townsend of Greenville College, at 14.39. On Thursday, Wildman had an All-America performance in the long jump.

As for other SCAC student-athletes competing on Friday, DePauw University junior Lauren Reich (pictured left) broke her own school record in the 800-meter run and qualified for tomorrow's finals at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships.

Sophomore Sandy Henin of Rhodes College also participated in the 800-meter run, but did not qualify for the finals after running a 2:13.73.

Reich, who broke the 21-year old school mark just two weeks ago, finished second in her heat in 2:11.96 which equaled the third-fastest time.

She will also compete in the 1,500-meter finals tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. with the 800 finals set for 3 p.m.

Junior Caitlin McGeehan of Hendrix College ran the 400 meter dash, but did not qualify for Saturday's finals after finishing with a time of 57.25.
