Colorado College Falls to 13th; Trinity  Up to 21st in Latest AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the ninth week of competition. Colorado College (26-6) fell five sports to No. 13 in the nation while Trinity University (24-8) moved up a spot to No. 21. Complete Poll

Colorado College and Trinity met this past weekend in the final weekend of conference play. The Tigers of Trinity emerged victorious over the Tigers of Colorado College in straight sets and went on to claim the SCAC Volleyball regular season title. Maggie Emodi led the way in the match with 14 kills and 16 digs while Layne Hubbard added 11 kills and 18 digs. Abbe Holtze led Colorado College with 13 kills.

Trinity went on to go 4-0 on the weekend en rout to claiming the SCAC regular season championship. The most impressive stat was that Trinity did not drop a set, winning matches over Austin, Centenary, Colorado, and Dallas, in straight sets. Erin Cusenbary earend SCAC Player of the Week after she hammered out 41 kills (4.10/set) over the four matches, compiling an outstanding .515 hitting percentage. She committed just 6 errors in 68 total attacks, as well as recording 10 blocks (1.00/set). The Tigers will finish their season at home at the Trinity National Invitational against Wittenberg, Randolph-Macon, and Hardin-Simmons.

Colorado College had a tough week, going 2-2 on the weekend. Colorado College started with a tough 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran thanks to a 18 kill, 30 dig effort from Abbe Holtze and a 15 kill performance from Kristen Liberty. They followed that up with a 3-0 sweep over Schreiner. Going into the next and final day of conference play, After falling to Trinity, the Tigers could still clinch second play with a win over Southwestern, but dropped an epic five set match thanks to a 17 kill match from Holtze. The Tigers will finish the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches against Johnson & Wales and Colorado Christian.
