Trinity and Colorado College Men's Soccer Teams Move Up the NSCAA Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Division III national poll released Tuesday, September 9, and despite recording a their first loss over the weekend, The Trinity University men's soccer team (3-1-0) moved up from No. 8 to No. 4 while the previously unranked Colorado College team (3-1-0) will enter the first weekend of conference play in the No. 24 spot.

In the NSCAA West-Regional poll, Trinity sits in the No. 1 spot, with Colorado College just two spots behind in the No. 3 spot. The University of Dallas (4-0) holds the No. 10 spot, after starting the season undefeated. Complete Poll

The Trinity Tigers faced Hardin-Simmons this weekend earning a 2-1 win in overtime. Victor Araujo scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute, and Roberto Camargo marked the game-winning goal in the 95th minute.

Trinity faced the University of Texas-Dallas the next day, but gave up their first match of the season, falling 2-1 to the Comets. Goncalo Santana had the team's lone goal, scoring it in the 17th minute.

Goalkeeper Matt Cardone recorded four saves over the weekend, while the Tigers defense only allowed ten total shots through the weekend, seven of which were on goal.

Trinity will begin conference play Wednesday against Southwestern University playing host to Christopher Newport University Friday.

Colorado College recorded two wins this weekend over George Fox University and Kean University, moving their record to 3-1-0 on the season.

The Colorado College offense dominated George Fox Friday afternoon, earning a 5-1 win. Five different players scored, earning goals from Andrew Worthington, Stuart Beezley, Hunter Martinez, Seth Newby and Killian Cockran. Goalkeeper Ian Thorne made three saves in the second half.

Colorado College's game the next night against Kean the next day wasn't quite as easy, but the Tigers still came away with a shutout win. Goalkeeper Theo Hooker recorded two saves on the day, while senior Brandon Ogilvie recorded the only goal of the game.

Colorado College will face conference opponent Centenary College Friday before hosting Concordia-Moorehead Sunday.
