Gammill and Wright named Golfers of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference names Tyler Gammill of Southwestern University and Jamie Wright of Centenary College as the Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week, respectively, for tournaments played through Tuesday, October 7.

 

 

 

 

 

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

TYLER GAMMILL OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Austin, Texas, was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.

Gammill defeated a field of 94 at the Royal Lake/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch, Ga. this week. After finishing the first day in sixth place, Gammill shot a tournament-low round score of 68 Tuesday to take sole possession of the top spot.

Gammill led the Pirates to a second place finish overall in just his fourth tournament of his college career. This is his second top 10 finish of the season, as he took fifth place at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational where he shot a career-low round of 65.

The Pirates will compete in their final fall tournament October 27-28 at the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons University.

 

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

JAMIE WRIGHT OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior from Alexandria, La., was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.

Wright finished second in the Birmingham Southern College Southern Shootout this weekend. In the two round, 36-hole tournament, Wright marked an overall score of 136 to lead the Ladies to a sixth place finish.

Wright posted a 68 in both rounds, her lowest single round score for the season, to finish four shots under par, her best two-round score of the season.

This is Wright's second consecutive SCAC Golfer of the Week honor.

The Ladies will compete next in the Abilene Intercollegiate hosted by Hardin-Simmons October 27-28.
