Zimmerhanzel and Murphy named Co-Golfers of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference named Kraig Zimmerhanzel of Texas Lutheran University and Connor Murphy of Southwestern University Co-Golfers of the Week for tournaments through Tuesday, September 16.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CONNOR MURPHY  OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Searcy, Ark., was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Golfer of the Week for tournaments played through Tuesday, September 16.

Murphy tied for third place at the Rhodes College Fall Classic this weekend, carding a 144 through the two-day 36-hole competition.

Murphy’s final score was the second-best on the course, coming just one shot behind the winner. Murphy shot a 75 in the first round, but improved to a 69 on Monday to help the Pirates rally for a second place team finish.

Southwestern finished just five shots shy of the team champion, the University of Texas-Tyler.

The Pirates will compete next at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational in Sun City, Texas on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23.

 

KRAIG ZIMMERHANZEL OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Smithville, Texas, was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Golfer of the week for tournaments played through Tuesday, September 16.

Zimmerhanzel competed at the Rhodes College Fall Classic this weekend, finishing in a tie for third place with an overall mark of 144 in the two-round competition.

Zimmerhanzel carded a two-under par mark of 70 in the first round, giving him a tie for the lead through the day.  Zimmerhanzel shot a 74 in the second round, helping the Bulldogs to a third place team finish with a team score of 590 (+14).

The Bulldogs will take a break from competition until the Alamo City Classic held October 20-21.
