Trinity's Jorgens, Falcone named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer players were named to the Capital One  Academic All-District team announced Thursday. Trinity University seniors Emily Jorgens and Kelsey Falcone were honored.

Jorgens is an accounting major, and earned all-district honors for the second year in a row. In the 2013 season, she was also elected the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year and earned the Elite 89 Award, having the highest GPA at the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.

In her senior season, Jorgens has moved to up the SCAC record book, extending her records for career assists and assist/game average while also moving to second in SCAC history for career point total with 197 through October 26.

Falcone adds to the prolific offense for the Tigers and was elected to the All-District team after earning a 3.63 GPA majoring in biology and communications.

The two players have also earned NSCAA honors as Jorgens is a three-time All-American and Falcon was named to the second team All-American last season.

Led by the two seniors, the Trinity Tigers have secured the top seed in the upcoming SCAC championship and currently hold a 16-game winning streak.

Voting is conducted by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Capital One Academic All-America Team will be announced November 21.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution  and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
