Trinity's Falcone, Jorgens Awarded Prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Two members of the Trinity University women’s soccer team have been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

The one-time non-renewable scholarships of $7,500 are awarded three times a year corresponding to each sport season (fall, winter and spring).  Each sports season there are 29 scholarships available for men and 29 scholarships available for women for use in an accredited graduate program.

Emily Jorgens, a senior from Austin, Texas, was awarded the scholarship after earning perfect 4.0 GPA in Accounting. Jorgens has been named the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year two consecutive times. She is the only player to win the award twice in a row. The Academic All-America program is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America. In 2013, Jorgens received the Elite 89 Award, presented to the player with the highest GPA at the NCAA Championship semifinals and final, co-hosted by Trinity at San Antonio’s Toyota Field. Jorgens was also named the 2013 National Midfielder of the Year, and tied a Division III single-season record with 30 assists.

Kelsey Falcone, a senior from Houston, Texas, posted a 3.63 GPA in biology and communication. She also made the Capital One Academic All-America Team.  She joined Jorgens on the First Team, marking the first time two Trinity players were selected for the top team. Additionally, Jorgens and Falcone earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America accolades.

Jorgens plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study Accounting and has secured a job with the Delloite firm in Dallas after completing her graduate studies. Falcone is headed for medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is interested in specializing in emergency medicine or pediatrics, but plans to keep her options open.
