TLU's Kirkpatrick, Armstrong Named SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Forward Sioned Kirkpatrick and defender Tara Armstrong of Texas Lutheran University earned the nod as SCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for week three.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 8th – September 14th 

SIONED KIRKPATRICK OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8th through Sunday, September 14th.

Kirkpatrick led the Bulldogs to a 1-0-1 weekend including a 2-0 conference opening win over Schreiner followed by a 4-4 draw against Huston-Tillotson.

Kirkpatrick netted two goals in the match against Huston-Tillotson, including a game tying goal in the 81st minute. The Bulldogs scored two goals in the final 10 to force the tie.

She had a season-high five shots in the match.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore midfielder Hannah Jo Wright of Centenary provided a game winning penalty kick in overtime to lead the Ladies to a 2-1 win over Hendrix, the first goal of her career. Senior forward Kelsey Falcone of Trinity assisted on the eventual game-winner on Friday night against UT-Tyler, then scored the lone goal of the first half at UT-Dallas on Sunday afternoon. Austin College, Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TARA ARMSTRONG OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Lincoln, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 8th through Sunday, September 14th.

Armstrong enjoyed a career weekend against Schreiner and Huston-Tillotson.

Armstrong led the Bulldog defense to a shutout over the Moutaineers and their first conference win of the season, holding Schreiner to no shots on the afternoon.

Armstrong tallied her first career assist in a 2-0 win over Schreiner, setting up a game-winning goal and follow that up by scoring the first goal of her TLU career in a 4-4 draw with Huston-Tillotson.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman defender Riley Spudic of Centenary held Hendrix's leading scorer Samantha Lallas without a goal in the 2-1 overtime win over the Warriors - marking the first of the season for the Maroon and White. Junior goalkeeper Katherine Rodgers of Southwestern had an strong week in goal despite the seven goals allowed, making numerous diving saves to keep the Pirates in the contestSenior goalkeeper Lauren Goldberg of Trinity allowed one goal in more than 130 minutes in net for the Tigers, recording a pair of saves, and earning the victory in both games. Austin CollegeDallas, and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
