Trinity's Cusenbary Highlights Four AVCA All-Americans

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Senior middle blocker Erin Cusenbary of Trinity University earned the nod as a First Team All-American honor from the American Volleyball Coaches Association to highlight four total SCAC volleyball student-athletes earning a place on the All-American Team.

Senior outside hitter Maggie Emodi took home second team honors while sophomore setter Erika Edrington earned a spot on honorable mention. Sophomore outside hitter Abbe Holtze of Colorado College also earned honorable mention honors from the AVCA.

Cusenbary, a first team All-SCAC and All-Region selection, recorded 165 blocked shots (1.19 per set) for the Tigers during the season. She posted 543 blocks during her career, which placed her second on Trinity's all-time career list. Cusenbary hit .350 (387 kills, 104 errors, 808 total attacks) in 2014, and stands at No. 8 career-wise with a mark of .310. She is the 17th different Tiger player to earn All-America honors. Cusenbary earned a spot on the honorable mentions in 2013.

Emodi, a first team All-SCAC and All-Region selection, fired in 514 kills (3.75 per set) for a No. 4 Trinity single-season ranking. The 1,724 kills over her career place her second in the Trinity record books. She is the 10th multi-time All-American in Trinity volleyball history, earning first team honors in 2013, becoming the first since Caroline Keener in 2007 and 2008.

Edrington, a first team All-SCAC and All-Region selection, led the Tiger team with 1,136 assists on the year, as well as finishing fourth on the team with 23 service aces. She also contributed 391 digs and 28 blocks to the Trinity defensive efforts.

Holtze, the 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, became only the second player in program history to reach the 500 kill mark in a single season. She finished the 2014 season with 522 kills to lead the team and conference, while ranking second all-time in Tigers record book for most kills in a single season.

The outside hitter was second on the team notching 481 digs and earned 23 double-doubles to lead the team, while averaging 13.4 kills and 12.3 digs a match.

Colorado College reached the Regional Semifinals in this year's NCAA Postseason before falling in five sets to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Meanwhile, Trinity, the SCAC Champions for the second straight season, fell in the Regional Finals to C-M-S in four sets.
