Colorado College Up to Eighth; Trinity Down to 22nd in Latest AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the third week of competition. Colorado College (24-4) moved up one spot to No. 7 in the nation while Trinity University (20-8) fell seven sports to No. 22. Complete Poll

Colorado College had a light week, picking up a 3-1 victory over Johnson & Wales for their annual "Dig Pink" game last Wednesday. Abbe Holtze was terrific with 14 kills and 10 digs while Kristen Liberty added 10 kills on the evening. Rebecca Watson was key, picking up 25 assists while Sophie Merrifield added 14 digs. The Tigers hit a blistering .284 in the match and have now won five games in a row.

Meanwhile, Trinity was the only team in the SCAC to play a full slate of games, traveling to Wisconsin for non-conference matchups. The Tigers went 1-3 on the weekend including a pair of heartbreaking 3-2 losses to Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Layne Hubbard put together a fantastic weekend, finishing with 35 kills and 85 digs (5.00/set) to go along with five blocks. Maggie Emodi led the way offensively with 78 kills for the weekend. 

Both teams will be in Seguin this weekend for conference play as they two teams will face off Sunday morning at 10 a.m. CT. Colorado College will also battle Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Schreiner while Trinity will take on Austin College, Centenary, and Dallas.
