TLU's Williams Named Beyond Sports Network National Athlete of the Week

LEESBURG, Va. - Texas Lutheran's Lewis Williams II has been named Division III Offensive Player-of-the-Week by Beyond Sports Network for his efforts in Saturday's 41-16 victory over Sul Ross State.

Also the SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week this past week, Williams is the third TLU football player to be named to the elite squad this season and it is the fourth award in total for the Bulldogs. Fellow wideout Cameron Peavy has been a two-time selection to the BSN National Player-of-the-Week honor roll.

Williams, a 5-10, 170-pound wide receiver from Houston, enjoyed a career day in the Bulldogs' road win over Sul Ross State. He set career-highs for receiving TDs (3), receiving yards (184) and total receptions (11) in the TLU win.

Williams scored on Brent Peavy touchdown passes of seven, 50, and 31 yards. He also returned three kickoffs for 71 yards and had a long return of 33.

Williams and the Bulldogs are 5-0 overall heading into Saturday's road game with Mississippi College (3-3, 3-0 ASC). TLU, the SCAC champions after a 3-0 run through its new league, played in the American Southwest Conference with Mississippi College from 1998 to 2012.

MC sits atop the ASC standings entering the non-conference tilt with the Bulldogs.

Saturday's game in Clinton, Miss. is set for a 3 p.m. kickoff from MC's Robinson-Hale Stadium. TLU will have a live video webcast from tlubulldogs.com. Seguin's KWED 1580 AM will have the radio broadcast and an audio-only webcast from seguintoday.com. Pre-game coverage from Clinton begins at 2:30 p.m.
