Austin College's Jesko, Ward; TLU's Hardaway, Brandenburg Earn SCAC Football Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College's Noah Jesko and Brooks Ward and Texas Lutheran's Dominique Hardaway and Tyler Brandenburg have been named SCAC Football Player of the Weeks in the final weekend of the season. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, November 16th

NOAH JESKO OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a 6-3, 190-pound junior quarterback from Dalhart, Texas and DOMINIQUE HARDAWAY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a 5-7, 193-pound senior running back from Lockhart, Texas, have been named the SCAC Football Co-Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, November 16th. 

Jesko played arguably the best game of his career in leading the 'Roos to the program's first win over Trinity since 1993, completing 16-of-23 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions. 

Jesko had touchdown passes of 65, 58, and six yards, and with his second touchdown went over the 2,000 yard mark for the season. 

In a four game winning streak to end the season, Jesko had eight touchdowns against zero interceptions.

Hardaway rushed for a career-best 158 yards and set new school records for longest TD run and longest rush from scrimmage in the Bulldogs' 63-14 home win over Howard Payne. 

Hardaway closed out his four-year career at TLU by averaging 12.2 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Southwestern and Trinity did not nominate anyone.

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, November 16th

BROOKS WARD OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a 5-10, 225-pound sophomore linebacker from Grand Prairie, Texas has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, November 16th.

Ward led the Ausitn College defense to a 35-7 win over Trinity, their first win over the Tigers since 1993.

Ward had a big game to lead an outstanding defensive effort in the win, making 10 tackles, including four solo stops, 1.0 sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss.

The 'Roo defense held the Trinity offense who scored 58 points a week ago, to only 243 total yards and 22 rushing yards.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman linebacker Gregory Reeves of Southwestern finished with a game-high 15 tackles – a season-high for the Pirates in their first season back on the field. Senior linebacker Bradley Snowden of Texas Lutheran Snowden ended his TLU career with eight total tackles as the Bulldogs' defense forced six turnovers, held Howard Payne to 14 points, limited the Yellow Jackets to 99 yards rushing. Trinity did not nominate anyone.
 

SCAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, November 16th

TYLER BRANDENBURG OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a 6-2, 210-pound junior kicker and punter from Spring, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, November 9th.

Brandenburg made two more field goals to stretch his consecutive field goal streak to eight as Texas Lutheran scorched Howard Payne, 63-14.

Brandenburg connected form 18 and 35 yards. He also delivered a two-point conversion pass after a bad snap. 

Brandenburg threw the two-point conversion to Jake Bahr in the third quarter to extend the Bulldog lead to 39-14 at the time.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman punter Michael Erwin of Southwestern added six punts on the afternoon with one inside the 20-yard line averaging 37.2 yards per punt. Austin College and Trinity did not nominate anyone.
