Southwestern's Jakszta; TLU's Rose Tabbed SCAC Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern's Lindsay Jakszta and Texas Lutheran's Erin Rose were named SCAC Women's Soccer Player's of the Week for their outstanding performance this past weekend in conference play

 

 





SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 23 – September 29

LINDSAY JAKSZTA OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder/defender from Colleyville, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29. 

Jakszta scored four of the six Pirate goals this weekend as Southwestern went 2-0. Jakszta took 12 shots, 7 on goal, for a .583 shots on goal percentage and .333 shot percentage. Two of her goals were game winners.  

For the season, Jakszta is leading Southwestern with 13 points and six goals. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Maddy Millender of Austin College notched the 'Roos lone goal against Trinity on Sunday afternoon, the first goal surrendered by Trinity since September 6. Sophomore forward Rebecca Brunter of the University of Dallas had ten shots and two goals for the weekend. Sophomore forward Sioned Kirkpatrick of Texas Lutheran scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime win over Dallas. Junior midfielder Emily Jorgens of Trinity University had two assists and four goals, two of which were game-winners in two SCAC victories this weekend. Centenary and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Centenary and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 23 – September 29

ERIN ROSE OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a freshman goalkeeper from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29. 

Rose tallied her third shutout of the season in Texas Lutheran's 1-0 overtime win over Dallas. She made three saves on the day. It was the first shutout of the year in which Rose recorded a save.

For the season, Rose is leading the SCAC in shutouts per game with .33 and is fifth in the SCAC for saves per game with 5.11.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore goalkeeper Franchesca Lozoya of Austin College made 19 saves in two games over the weekend, including 14 against a high powered Trinity team that managed to put 20 shots on goal on Sunday. Freshman midfielder Hayley Miesse of Southwestern led the Pirate defense to two wins and one shutout this weekend, while she also took three shots, one on goal, for a .333 shots on goal percentage. Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Trinity did not nominate anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
