SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Trinity University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is spearheading a fundraising drive to battle breast cancer.
The initiative, known as “May the Breast Team Win,” will be held in conjunction with the Trinity Tigers athletics teams. All donations, contributions from local businesses, and proceeds from the sale of T-shirts and tank tops, will be presented to the San Antonio Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
All week, T-shirts, tank tops, and rally towels were sold at the Coates University Center. Additionally, the items are on sale tomorrow, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The items will also be on sold during the University’s Alumni Weekend at the women’s and men’s soccer games on Friday, October 11 (vs. the University of Dallas, 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively); at the football game on Saturday, October 12 (vs. Millsaps College, 1:30 p.m.); and the volleyball match on Friday, October 18 (vs. Eastern University, 5:00 p.m.).
Everyone is encouraged to wear their apparel and wave the rally towels at these events. Fans can also pick up a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a $25 gift card from Panchito’s, a popular Mexican restaurant located at 4100 McCullough.
Chipotle Night will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 6-10 p.m. at Chipotle Mexican Grill, 3928 Broadway. Folks can bring in the “May the Breast Team Win” flyer, or show it on their smart phone, to have 50 percent of the profits go toward the fundraising effort.
BIRD Bakery Day is set for Oct. 18. BIRD Bakery (5912 Broadway) will donate 25 percent of its profits that day to cancer fighting fundraiser. All are encouraged to stop by the bakery and purchase a cupcake on that day.
