SCAC Announces 2013 Volleyball Tournament Bracket

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The SCAC office today released the championship bracket for the 2013 conference volleyball tournament, which will be played Friday-Saturday, November 8-9 in San Antonio, Texas on the campus of Trinity UniversityComplete Bracket

After sweeping its four cross-divisional matches this weekend, 19th-ranked Trinity University (13-1) earned the top seed in the SCAC tournament for the first time since 2007. Under head coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers have won a record 15 SCAC volleyball titles, but are seeking their first championship since 2008.

Three-time defending SCAC champion and eighth-ranked Colorado College (12-2) will be the No. 2 seed. If the Tigers were to win their fourth-straight conference tournament, they would match the four straight won by Trinity from 1998-1999 and then 2007-2008. There was no SCAC postseason volleyball tournament from 2000-2006.

Rounding out the seeds are No. 3 Southwestern University (10-4), No. 4 Texas Lutheran University (7-7), No. 5 Austin College (5-9), No. 6 Schreiner University (4-10), No. 7 University of Dallas (4-10) and No. 8 Centenary College (1-13).

Schreiner earned the sixth seed over Dallas due to its sweep of the regular season series.  

Competition gets underway Friday morning at 11 a.m. Trinity will take on Centenary on Court 1 and Texas Lutheran will face Austin College on Court 2. Click here to view the entire tournament schedule. Click here for the official tournament website.
