LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Junior midfielder Emily Jorgens has been named the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year in Division III, leading three Trinity women's soccer players elected to the teams.

Jorgens was named to the Academic All-America First Team, and is a business administration major with a perfect 4.00 GPA. She was previously selected for the Academic All-District 8 Team.

Senior defender Jennifer White was elected to the Academic All-America Second Team, while senior forward Shelby Guenthardt was an Academic All-America Third Team honoree.  Both earned Academic All-America honors last season as well.

Voting in the Capital One Academic All-America program is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jorgens is the Tigers points leader with 64 accumulated this season. She has scored 18 goals (a team best seven game-winners) and chalked up a team-leading 28 assists. Jorgens is also Trinity's all-time career assists leader, with 59 over the past three years, and owns the Tigers single-season mark as well. Her 64 points place her at the top of Trinity's single-season record book.  Just two more assists will tie her for the all-time record in Division III history.

Last Monday, Jorgens played a key role in the Tigers come-from-behind success in the NCAA second round at Bloomington, Illinois, over Illinois Wesleyan. Jorgens broke a 4-4 shootout deadlock, which sent Trinity to the Sweet 16. She tied the score at 1-1, with just minutes remaining in regulation, forcing the game into overtime.

Earlier, Jorgens was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

White majors in Spanish, neuroscience, and international studies, with a 3.98 GPA. She also was a Academic All-America Third Team recipient last season. She spearheads a stingy Trinity defense, which has allowed only eight goals this season. White has also has contributed two goals and seven assists to the offensive part of the game.

Guenthardt is an engineering science major with a 3.84 GPA. In 2012, Guenthardt was named to the Academic All-America Third Team. This season, Guenthardt has scored 17 goals (with seven assists), and 52 in her career. She is tied for second place in Trinity's record books (with Becky King, 1997-2000) in career goals.

The Tigers will host the NCAA Sectional rounds Friday and Saturday. Trinity meets No. 5 Montclair State (20-0-1) at 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, in the third round. Fourth-ranked Wheaton (IL) (19-1-2) is matched with No. 8 Emory (16-3-1) at 7:30 p.m. The winners advance to Saturday's quarterfinals, slated for a 5:00 p.m. starting time.

At stake is a berth in the NCAA Final Four, to be held December 6-7 at San Antonio's Toyota Field. Trinity will co-host the event for the fifth straight year with San Antonio Sports.
