TLU's Peavy, Southwestern's Frisby, Trinity's Kennemer Named SCAC Football Players-of-the-Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Brent Peavy of Texas Lutheran, Tyler Frisby of Southwestern, and Matthew Kennemer of Trinity were named SCAC Player-of-the-Week for the second week of the SCAC football season.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, September 14

BRENT PEAVY OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a 5-10, 207-pound senior quarterback from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Offensive Players-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 14.

Peavy
threw for four touchdowns and 317 yards and rushed for 85 to lead the TLU Bulldogs to a 42-38 road victory over the Trinity Tigers.

Peavy
completed 20 of 32 passes and did not commit a turnover. He rushed 12 times of 85 yards, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. He had a long run of 51 yards and a long pass of 66 yards, completing it to his twin brother Cameron, who caught six passes for 175 and scored twice.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior tight end Kyle Crawford of Austin College had a career day against East Texas Baptist, hauling in six catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He scored on touchdown grabs of 53 yards and 11 yards. Trinity quarterback Robert Broyles of Trinity threw for 344 yards in his first start for the Tigers, connecting on 15-34 passes, and tossing three touchdowns as well as rushing for 57 yards in the 42-38 loss to Texas Lutheran. Southwestern did not nominate anyone for the award.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, September 14

TYLER FRISBY OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a 6-0, 190-pound freshman linebacker from Justin, Texas has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 14.

Frisby led the Pirates for a second week with 12 tackles – 10 of which were solo tackles in a 32-14 loss to Bacone College.

Frisby also added 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss for 19 yards as he helped the Pirates defense force three turnovers in the loss and give the Pirates their first lead going into halftime since 1950.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior linebacker Bradley Snowden of Texas Lutheran collected nine tackles (three solos, six assists), a tackle for loss, a sack, a pass break-up and a quarterback hurry. Trinity linebacker James Hix of Trinity had six solo and six assisted tackles in the game for the Tigers, and he has 16 tackles overall this season. Austin College did not nominate anyone for the award. 

 

SCAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games played Saturday, September 14

MATTHEW KENNEMER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 5-11, 185-pound sophomore wide receiver, kicker, punter, kick returner, and punt returner from Friendswood Texas., has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 14.

Kennemer
connected on 5-5 extra points and hit his first career field goal (32 yards) in Trinity's 42-38 loss to Texas Lutheran on Saturday night. 

Kennemer
also had four kick returns for 78 yards and a nine-yard punt return on the night, not to mention his seven catches for 178 yards to lead all receivers in the game. He also picked up 65 yards on two punts for the Tigers.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman kick returner Chantz Singletary of Texas Lutheran returned the opening kickoff 53 yards to the Trinity 43 to set up TLU's opening-drive touchdown against the Tigers on Saturday. Austin College and Southwestern did not nominate anyone for the award.
