Colorado College Promotes Anthony Weber to Head Women's Tennis Coach

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Anthony Weber, assistant coach with the Colorado College varsity tennis programs since September 2011, has been promoted to head coach of the women's team and coordinator of club sports, director of athletics Ken Ralph announced on Wednesday.

Weber (pictured on the right) succeeds Todd Doebler (pictured on the left) at the Lady Tigers' helm. Doebler, who will continue as head coach of the men's tennis squad, doubles as coordinator of the new Adam F. Press Fitness Center.  

"I want to thank Ken and Todd Doebler for this opportunity to lead the women's tennis team and work with the club sports teams," Weber said. "We have a great group of student-athletes and I am excited to build on the momentum created over the last few years in Tiger Athletics. I look forward to serving the school, students and community for many years to come."

"We are thrilled that Coach Weber will be taking over the women's tennis program," said Ralph. "His enthusiasm and passion for tennis will ensure the long term success of our program. He'll be a great asset to the entire athletic department."

Weber, who has been involved in all aspects of the CC tennis program the last two years, has been a head coach at local high schools Liberty and Sand Creek, as well as a volunteer assistant at Palmer. In addition, he has taught both private and group lessons at Foothills Swim and Tennis and has coached at a number of youth camps.

"This is a very well deserved promotion and Anthony will do an outstanding job," said Doebler. "As our assistant coach, he did a great job of helping both programs improve in the last two years. I am very excited to see the women's program grow under Anthony's leadership. He will not only be a great addition to the athletic department, but the entire CC community."

Along with his coaching experience, Weber holds a Professional Tennis Registry's Certification at the professional level and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His areas of specialization include speed, agility, dynamic balance and power relating to tennis and volleyball.  

Weber played varsity tennis at Division I Lamar University under head coach Claire Pollard, who is currently is the head women's coach at Northwestern University. While at Lamar, Weber served as a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He received a bachelor's degree in finance in 1999, from Colorado State University.
