LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Twin brothers Brent and Cameron Peavy were up to their old tricks again as they scorched the East Texas Baptist Tigers for 61 points. Meanwhile, Austin College notched win number one on the season as they shutout Southwestern in a non-conference bout.

The Austin College football team used a huge day on the ground to earn a 31-0 victory over visiting Southwestern University on Saturday, bringing the team's record to 1-4 on the year. The 'Roos rushed for 305 yards, led by a 149 yard performance from senior James Nwanpah. Bryce Murphy added 96 yards on the ground as each running back scored a touchdown in the victory. Noah Jesko had his lowest passing yard total of the year with 44 yards but rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and Mitch Trentman led the team with 28 receiving yards. The 'Roos were dominant on special teams, with Josh Uland blocking two punts, recovering one at the goal line to set up Jesko's first touchdown plunge, and Shane Hodge blocked a field goal. Brooks Ward and Scott Loy each picked off a pass in the victory, with Loy adding six tackles, five of which were solo stops. This marks the first time since 1998 that the 'Roos have shut out a Division III opponent, holding the Pirates to 155 yards with 100 of those yards coming on the final two drives of the game. This week the 'Roos travel to Texas Lutheran looking to pick up their second win in a row.
For the first time during the 2013 season the Southwestern University football team was held scoreless as an early deficit proved too much to overcome in a 31-0 loss to Austin College Saturday afternoon. The Pirates –who moved to 0-5 on the season – will continue to search for their first win of the season as they return home to host Oklahoma Baptist. A solid 7-play 60-yard drive from the 'Roos eclipsed 2:38 before scoring again on their second possession to build the two score lead. Southwestern also struggled through the air as Austin Rainer earned his first start of the season before being forced out of the game and being relieved by Brian Hicks. Both quarterbacks finished just 13-of-29 as neither signal caller was able to help put the ball in the end zone for the first time all season. Hicks did manage to finish with over 100 yards passing as four different receivers finished with three catches.score.

His 501 yards of total offense is the second-most by a Bulldog in TLU Football history. Former Bulldog quarterback Sean Salinas had 505 against East Texas Baptist in 2004. Brent is now second in the nation in total offense, and TLU now has the top-ranked total offense in all of NCAA Division III. Cameron caught 11 passes for 216 yards (two shy of the TLU single-game record, which he holds) and tied the school record for touchdowns in a game and touchdowns receiving in a game. Cameron shares the total touchdowns in a game mark (4) with three other Bulldogs. Cameron is fourth in the nation in receiving yards per game and seventh in receiving TDs per contest.
Trinity had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 49-7 loss to second-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers scored their only points of the game after falling behind 14-0, but then could not get back on the scoreboard. The Tigers will host former SCAC opponent Millsaps College on Saturday afternoon, during Trinity's Alumni Weekend. Trinity defeated Millsaps 35-24 at home last season, which was the team's second straight victory in the series. Millsaps leads the all-time series with a record of 19-17 against Trinity.
