GEORGETOWN, Texas - Brandon Ogilvie and Caden MacKenzie switched off on goals and assists in the first 12 minutes to lead the Colorado College Tigers to a 2-0 win over the Austin College 'Roos in quarterfinal action on Day One of the SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament. Ogilvie got the scoring started on a give and go in the middle of the field, striking from about 30 yards out for the early 1-0 lead. For Ogilvie, it was his 15th goal of the season to lead the SCAC
It didn't take long for the Tigers to make it 2-0 as Ogilvie streaked down the left side of the field and sent a brilliant ball into MacKenzie who sent a diving header by the goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead in the blink of an eye.
Colorado College (14-5-2) looked as though they were going to add more in the first half, but a tenacious Austin College (4-13-3) defense stepped up and slowed down the potent Tiger offense.
It turned into a defensive battle to end the first half as the Colorado College took the dangerous 2-0 lead going in the break.
The 'Roos came out agressive on the offensive end while still holding their own defensively, but the Colorado College defense was too much as they turned any possessions away, holding the 'Roos to only three shots.
Goalkeeper Ian Horne turned away many possession including crosses and corners that came his way. He ended up recording his eighth shutout of the season and the team's 10th.
The Tigers again move into the nightcap as they will face the No. 2 seed and host school Southwestern University. The two teams split their season battle in 2013. Last season at the SCAC Tournament, the No. 3 seeded Pirates knocked off the No. 2 Tigers to earn a trip to the SCAC Title Game.
