TLU's Peavy, Johnson Named BSN Athletes-of-the-Week

LEESBURG, Va. - Texas Lutheran senior wide receiver Cameron Peavy and sophomore defensive back Ty Johnson have been named Division III Offensive and Defensive Players-of-the-Week by Beyond Sports Network.

The Bulldogs, fresh off a huge SCAC win over Trinity, got monster performances from both of their players to lead the team to the come-from-behind victory.

Peavy, a senior out of Houston, Texas, caught six passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns, including a 66-yard bomb to start the third quarter and begin the 17 point come from behind victory.

Peavy, the brother of TLU quarterback and reigning SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week Brent Peavy, has 13 catches on the year for 238 yards and two scores in the 2013 season.

Johnson, a sophomore out of Orange, Texas, had a career day on the defensive end of the field, picking up 21 total tackles including 12 solo tackles on the evening. He also had a forced fumble as he led a TLU defense that only allowed seven Tiger points in the second half.

Thus far, Johnson has 26 total tackles to lead the SCAC to go with two forced fumbles and a pass breakup.
