Colorado College's Lucero; Dallas' Seager Named SCAC Volleyball Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Colorado College's Devon Lucero and Dallas' Allison Seager have been named SCAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week after their outstanding performance this past weekend against great competition. 

 

 

 

 

 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 30th– October 6th

DEVON LUCERO OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore setter from Pueblo, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 30th through Sunday, October 6th. 

Lucero was voted MVP of the Molten Volleyball Spike It Up Classic after leading the Tigers to four consecutive victories. Lucero averaged 10.2 assists and 3.08 digs per set as CC won 12 of 13 sets. She had 33 assists, 17 digs and a pair of blocked shots as the Tigers came from behind to defeat Hamline University in Saturday's first match. 

Lucero came back with 41 assists, 13 digs and three blocks in the sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan University in the championship match. In the first matchup with NWU on Friday, Lucero had six kills on 12 swings and had a hand in three blocked shots. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Sumner of Centenary led the Ladies with 32 kills and was second on the team with 30 digs as the Ladies went 1-1 on the weekend. Junior setter C.J. Broadbent of Dallas finished with 7.89 assists/per game including a pair of 30 assist games to lead Dallas to a 3-0 weekend. Junior middle blocker Erin Cusenbary of Trinity finished with seven kills and zero errors on 17 total attacks, leading the team with a .412 hitting percentage in the match.  She also led the Tigers with four blocks on the night, playing in three of the team's four sets. Austin College and Southwestern did not nominate anyone. Schreiner and Texas Lutheran were idle.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 30th– October 6th

ALLISON SEAGER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a freshman defensive specialist from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 30th through Sunday, October 6th. 

Seager nearly doubled her season total in digs for the weekend, finishing with 57 total in 11 games to lead the University of Dallas to a 3-0 weekend.

Seager averaged 5.18 digs per set over the weekend, up from her seaosn average of 1.45. She picked up a weekend-high 24 digs against Johnson & Wales and then added 23 against Victory University. She also added 13 assists and four service aces.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Brooke Bahlinger of Centenary was second on the team in kills with 16 in the decision over LeTourneau, led the team with 26 digs – season-high – for her first double-double of the season. Sophomore right side hitter Courtney Birkett of Colorado College recorded 44 digs and had a hand in 12 blocked shots to help Colorado College win 12 of 13 sets en route to the tournament crown at the Molten Volleyball Spike It Up Classic. Junior outside hitter Maggie Emodi of Trinity posted a career-high 28 digs (7.0/set) in the victory, and that total also ties her for 24th in school history for a single match. Austin College and Southwestern did not nominate anyone. Schreiner and Texas Lutheran were idle.
