CALEB BALDERAS OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior placekicker from Azle, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 28. SCAC Football Release (Week 4)
Balderas had an outstanding game, drilling all three of his field goal attempts with each coming from more than 40 yards out, in a 34-9 loss to McMurry. Balderas, who accounted for all of Austin College's points, hit from 43, 44, and a career-best 49 yards, and also had a pair of touchbacks while putting all four of his kickoffs into the endzone.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore receiver Kason O'Shields of McMurry had three punt returns for 97 yards, including a 68-yard return to set up a one-yard touchdown, in the War Hawks' 34-9 conference win at Austin College. Senior punter Cameron Welch of Texas Lutheran averaged 44.3 yards a punt, including a long of 64 yards, in Saturday's 49-0 shutout win against Lyon. Junior receiver Kobe Chambers of Centenary had an impressive performance for the Gents in their 47-8 loss at ETBU on Saturday as he returned five kickoffs for 77 yards (15.4 average) with a long return of 34. He also scored the Gents' only touchdown of the game, catching a 61-yard pass in the second quarter.
