Sophomore catcher Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas was a force for the Celts at the plate this past week. In three games, Bennett hit an impressive .500, going 4-for-8 at the plate, with three RBI, one home run, one double and an impressive 1.000 slugging percentage. Senior outfielder Madison Johnson of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to an opening season sweep against Div. II St. Mary’s. Johnson hit .429 (3-for-7) including a walk off RBI single in game one. Sophomore outfielder Hayden Del Toro of Trinity led the Tigers to a split in its first action of the 2024 season, winning 5-4 in extra innings in the first game of the day on Sunday. Del Toro finished the day with a .600 batting average (6-for-10), picking up three hits in each game. She also scored three total runs and collected five RBI in the doubleheader. Del Toro singled with two outs in the ninth to keep the Tigers alive, then came around to score the game-winning run.
