MEREDITH HARRIS OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Mansfield, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 21st.
Harris had a monster game in goal as Austin college earned a 1-1 draw in a road match at Texas Lutheran. Harris made 21 saves while playing all 110 minutes, boasting a .955 save percentage in the game. Harris has posted back-to-back games with 10-plus saves and now leads the SCAC with 45 saves on the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goalkeeper Macey Henderson of Dallas faced 17 shots against a tough Trinity team that would eventually sneak a golden goal past in the 95th minute of the match. Henderson's 16 saves were a career-high for the freshman. She was busy on the day, as Trinity totaled 33 shots and possessed the ball on its offensive side of the pitch most of the day. Senior defender Lindsey Peng of Trinity played all 95 minutes of the Tiger’s overtime victory at Dallas on Saturday, leading the defense to its second straight shutout win. Peng and the Tiger defense limited Dallas to just four total shots in the game - including just one shot on goal.
