JAX RODRIGUEZ OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a first-year placekicker from Lago Vista, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 21. SCAC Football Release (Week 3)
Rodriguez was a perfect 4-of-4 on extra points and drilled a 52-year field goal in the War Hawks' 31-10 conference victory over Texas Lutheran. His 52-yard field goal is tied for the third longest field goal in SCAC history and the longest made since Jordan Gay of former SCAC member institution Centre drilled a 52-yarder in October of 2010.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore placekicker Cameron Welch of Texas Lutheran had five punts for a 39.8 yard average, including a long of 57 yards, in Saturday's 31-10 loss at McMurry.
