Colorado's MacKenzie; Southwestern's Poole named SCAC Men's Soccer Players-of-the-Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -Colorado College midfielder Caden MacKenzine and Southwestern senior goalkeeper Daniel Poolehave been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week for week three of the SCAC Soccer Season.

 






 

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 9 – September 15

CADEN MACKENZIE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a freshman midfielder from Denver, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 15.

 
MacKenzie recorded the first goal and assist of his collegiate career to help Colorado College post a 1-0-1 record last week. MacKenzie set up the Tigers' only goal in Friday's 1-1 tie against Chapman University, sending across from the right edge of the box that resulted in a goal by Seth Newby in the 35th minute.

During Sunday's 3-1 victory over the University of Dallas, MacKenzie struck for an insurance in the 79th minute to seal CC's first victory of the season. For MacKenzie that was his first assist and goal on the season.  


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

 Senior defender Matthew Nickell of Southwestern scored the game winner to upset Trinity on Tuesday evening. Sophomore midfielder Tim Schaffer of Texas Lutheran took two shots and scored the game winning goal in their SCAC opener to finish the weekend. Austin College, Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Trinity did not nominate anyone for Offensive Player-of-the-Week.

 

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of September 9 – September 15

DANIEL POOLE OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior goalkeeper from Shreveport, La. has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 15.

Poole had a huge impact on the game against rival Trinity with a shutout and win over the Tigers. During the game, Poole set a new Southwestern University record for saves in the match with 15.

Poole played 135 minutes in goal this weekend and recorded 17 saves while only allowing one goal.

 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Ian Allison of Austin College posted a shutout against Centenary and made eight saves in the victory. Junior defender Andrew Worthington anchored the Colorado College defense that allowed just two goals during the 1-1 tie against Chapman. Sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Michael of Texas Lutheran recorded his second clean sheet of the season, making two saves in their SCAC opener. Centenary, Dallas, Schreiner, and Trinity did not nominate anyone for Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
