Dubuque, IOWA – The seventh-ranked Trinity Tigers men's soccer team lost 2-1 in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals against the host Loras Duhawks on Sunday evening.

Trinity, playing in its eighth quarterfinal round (the first since 2008), completed the season with a 21-3-1 record. The Tigers, who claimed a 2-1 third-round double-overtime victory over Wartburg on Saturday, were competing in their 12th consecutive NCAA tournament. Sixth-ranked Loras (19-1-3) advanced to the NCAA semifinals to be held Dec. 6 at San Antonio's Toyota Field - for the second straight year.

Trinity will co-host the two-day NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Championships with S.A. Sports for the fifth consecutive time.

Tom Carwile provided the Tigers with a 1-0 lead by scoring an unassisted goal just nine minutes into the matchup. It marked Carwile's eighth goal of the season, and was the only scoring play of the first half.

Loras' Alex Bradley evened the game with a goal in the 51st minute, followed by a header from Mike Pizzello seven minutes later. Carwile was given a red card in the 68th minute, and the Tigers had to play one man down for the rest of the game.

The Tigers kept plugging along as Yuri Ribeiro fired a shot in the 81st minute, but Loras was credited with a team save. Victor Araujo took a shot on goal in the 88th minute, with Duhawks goalkeeper Dylan Milkent recording his fourth save of the game.

Trinity goalkeeper Matt Cardone posted five saves in the quarterfinal round.
