Colorado's Salazar; Trinity's Carwile Named SCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Colorado College's Andrew Salazar and Trinity's Tom Carwile have been named SCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Week 10 after a terrific performance to lead their teams at the end of the SCAC and regular season.

SCAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Games of October 28th – November 3rd

ANDREW SALAZAR OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior midfielder from Las Vegas, Nev., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd.

Salazar factored in all eight goals as Colorado College wrapped up the regular season with victories over Johnson & Wales University and the University of Dallas

During Wednesday's 3-0 victory over the Wildcats, Salazar recorded a goal and two assists for the first multiple-point game of his career. In Sunday's SCAC finale against the Crusaders, Salazar scored a pair of goals and added three assists to fuel Colorado College's 5-2 victory. It was the first multiple-goal game of his career. The game-winning assists were the second and third of the season and his career.

Salazar's seven points at UD are the most for a Tiger since Matt Fechter recorded eight on four goals in a 5-1 victory at Southwestern University on Oct. 23, 2011. His three assists are the most since Fechter recorded three in a 4-0 victory over Fredonia State on Sept. 14, 2012.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Gabriel Zahm of Centenary College assisted on the Gents first goal of the contest and notched the game-winner in the 45th minute to lift the Maroon and White to a 3-1 victory in the 2013 finale. Freshman forward Barton Holdridge of Dallas had three shots and added one goal for the Tigers. Freshman forward Alejandro Martinez of Texas Lutheran scored the Bulldogs' lone goal in their 1-0 shutout of Schreiner on Friday. Senior midfielder Yuri Ribeiro of Trinity assisted on the Tigers' only goal, which came midway through the first period of action, and extended Trinity's winning streak to 14 games. Austin College, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.

SCAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Games of October 28th – November 3rd

TOM CARWILE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Tulsa, Okla., has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 28th through Sunday, November 3rd.

Carwile led the Tigers to a 1-0 shutout of Southwestern University on Friday night, clinching the top seed at next weekend's SCAC Tournament.

In addition to leading a defense that posted its seventh consecutive shutout against Division III opponents, Carwile also knocked in the game's only goal for his third game-winner of the season.  He scored the goal on a corner kick in the 24th minute of action, then led a defense that allowed just two shots in the second half to secure the win.

For the season, Carwile has now scored seven goals for the Tigers – three of which have been game-winners.  He has also led a Trinity defense that has allowed just two goals over the last 14 games – and only one score against Division III teams.
