Trinity (19-2-1) will take on No. 21 Puget Sound in the second round at 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The winner advances to the NCAA Sectionals, to be held November 22-24 at a site to be determined. Puget Sound (15-5-0) edged Hardin-Simmons (11-4-5) in a 2-1 overtime matchup late Saturday. Cal Lutheran completed its season with a 13-7-2 record.

The Tigers Jonny Lawson scored the eventual game-winner in the 14th minute of play, on assists from Darren McAfee and Yuri Ribeiro. Lawson leads the Tigers with 15 goals this season, and he has now accounted for four game-winners.

Simon Uribe scored the Tigers' other goal, in the 55th minute, on a corner kick sent by Ribeiro. With the second assist, Ribeiro has now chalked up 16 during the campaign. He is in a three-way tie in the Trinity record books for third place in single-season assists.

Both teams were heavy Saturday night in the shots department. The Tigers blasted 28 shots, with 16 on goal. The Regals took a total of 26 shots, and 10 were on goal.

But the goalkeepers of the Tigers and Regals had exemplary games. Trinity's Matt Cardone registered a career-high 10 saves in the shutout, while Cal Lutheran's Jack Duncan had 14.

Looking ahead to Puget Sound, the Tigers edged the Loggers 1-0 on September 1 in a home game. It marked Trinity's first win of the young season.
