Rylan Whan, in his second start of the season, recorded seven saves in a 1-0 loss at Southwestern on Sunday to conclude the Gents weekend slate. The Maroon and White opened the weekend with an 8-0 loss at Trinity. Centenary faced two of the toughest defenses in the conference in the affairs as the Gents only attempted seven shots for the weekend. Centenary returns to the pitch Friday, Oct. 4 as they host Texas Lutheran at 7 p.m.

Colorado College freshman forward Caden MacKenzie struck for a pair of goals midway through the second half to lift the Tigers to a 2-0 victory at Schreiner University on Friday afternoon. MacKenzie recorded what proved to be his first game winner in the 69th minute, collecting a pass from junior midfielder Alex Martinez and slipping a shot into the lower left corner. Just 1:56 later, he took a pass from senior forward Brandon Ogilvie, touched the ball through a pair of defenders and tapped it into an open net after the goalkeeper could not maintain control. The CC defense allowed just three total shots, only one of which made it through to sophomore goalkeeper Ian Horne, who recorded his fourth shutout of the season. It was a serious case of déjà vu for the Tigers on Sunday. Colorado College scored a pair of second-half goals to record a 2-0 triumph at Texas Lutheran. Ogilvie put the Tigers on the board in the 50th minute when he converted on his third penalty kick of the season. All three of those PKs have been scored on the road. MacKenzie added an insurance goal midway through the second half when he knocked home the rebound of a shot by freshman defender Christian Wulff. Horne, who made the first of his three saves 6:25 into the second half, posted his fifth shutout of the year. Ogilvie struck for a pair of goals as CC began the week with a 3-1 victory over Johnson & Wales University in a non-conference game on Wednesday. The Tigers have held six of 10 opponents to fewer than five shots on goal and outscored their opponents 11-1 in five conference games this season. Colorado College plays host to Southwestern and Trinity on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

The University of Dallas men’s soccer team went 0-1-1 on the week in conference. On Friday, in Seguin, Texas, the Crusaders were bested 2-0 by Texas Lutheran after surrendering two first-half goals. On Sunday, in Kerrville, Texas, a defensive struggle turned into a 1-1 (2OT) draw between head coach David Hoffmann’s crew and Schreiner. Freshman forward Barton Holdridge provided Dallas’ lone score, an eighth-minute tally from sophomore midfielder Colton Allen and junior midfielder Matt Wise. Roughly ten minutes later, Schreiner’s Ryan Hernandez evened the score for good on an assist from Justin Edwards. The Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team scored two goals in the first half to defeat the University of Dallas 2-0 on Friday evening. It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to get on the board, with freshman Colin Nunley scoring in just the fifth minute to give the Bulldogs the lead. The goal came after Alejandro Martinez found Nunley with a cross into the box. Nunley took the shot from about 10 yards out and put it into the net for his first career Texas Lutheran goal. Martinez, another freshman, continued his helping ways in the 14th minute when he sent a cross to the near post. Isaac Lopez got on the end of the cross and finished it for his third goal of the year. He’s now tied for the team lead in that category. A penalty kick early in the second half proved to be the game winner as the Texas Lutheran men’s soccer team fell 2-0 at home Sunday to Colorado College. Goalkeeper Jonathan Michael made four saves in the opening half. He ended the game with nine saves, one off his season high which came in the season opener against LeTourneau.

No. 22 Trinity continued its strong showing in conference play with two more home shutouts against SCAC opponents.  The Tigers pushed their winning streak to four games by blanking both Centenary and Austin College, and the Tigers have not allowed a goal during the streak. Yuri Ribeiro is now just one goal shy of cracking the top 10 in Trinity men’s soccer history for a career, and needs just 11 more points to become the eighth player to score 100 or more points.  He is already in the top 10 with 25 career assists. Trinity is on the road for the first time in nearly a month this weekend, facing off against Dallas and Colorado College in a pair of SCAC games. Trinity trails Colorado College by a game in the standings.
