DUBUQUE, Iowa - Trinity's seventh-ranked men's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 double-overtime win over Wartburg (IA) College to earn a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday night. Box Score

Trinity (21-2-1) will now face off against sixth-ranked Loras at 5 p.m. in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday.  The winner advances to the NCAA semifinals December 6, to be played at San Antonio's Toyota Field. Loras was a 2-0 winner over Westminster (MO) in Saturday's opening game at the Rock Bowl.

Tiger player Yuri Ribeiro headed in the game-winning goal, on a long throw-in from Jeff Hayes, with 6:17 elapsed in the second overtime period.

Wartburg (17-5-2) scored first in the matchup, on a goal by Zach Smith just seven minutes into the game. It would turn out to be the only score of the tightly played first half. But in the 58th minute, Darren McAfee was successful in a penalty kick following a Wartburg foul in the box.

Tiger goalkeeper Matt Cardone made three saves, while Wartburg keeper Cade Shatzer had six. Trinity chalked up 21 shots (eight on goal), and Wartburg had 13 (four on goal).

Trinity Head Coach Paul McGinlay has now led the Tigers to their eighth appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships will be co-hosted by Trinity and San Antonio Sports for the fifth straight year. The Trinity women's team have already clinched a spot in the semifinals. If the Tigers can defeat Loras tomorrow night, Trinity will become the first SCAC program to have its male and female sport teams make the Final Four in the same sport in the same season since Trinity won national championships in men's and women's tennis in 2000.

The semifinals and finals are slated for December 6-7.
